Engage Your Residents with a Holiday Contest

Engage Your Residents with a Holiday Contest

Serendipit takes a look at unique contest tactics to stay top of mind with your students during the holidays.

Tis the season to spread holiday cheer! And what better way to do it than with a social media contest for your student housing residents? There are many ways to produce a productive contest this holiday season and we’re sharing a few great ideas!

Instagram Contest

Have your residents show off their favorite part of living in your community by sharing it on Instagram. This tactic will create a lot of engagement on each social media page, as they have to post a picture of what they love on their personal Instagram feed. We also recommend having a unique hashtag, so it’s easy to count all of the entries.

Twitter Scavenger Hunt

Let your community elves leave helpful tips to claim holiday prizes on Twitter. This creates a fun and engaging way to give out small prizes and will hopefully catch on across the entire campus! Low on prizes? Think swag items like gift cards to restaurants, coffee shops and community branded items that won’t cost your student housing community a dime.

Facebook Post Contest

Have a large following on Facebook? Take advantage of that with your next holiday contest. Have your fans share their favorite part of the holidays and tag one of their friends in the post. We also recommend boosting your post to ensure it gets in front of a wide audience.

With any good contest, the secret is to keep it simple. Remember, your residents are busy studying for finals, so give them a fun way to break away from the books and enter a quick contest.
