Weekly Wrap-Up: Colors & Purchase Habits
Serendipit Consulting wraps up the week with a look at colors and how they affect the purchase habits of consumers.
Studies have shown that colors influence our mood, feelings and emotions, but recent marketing research also proves that colors directly affect the purchase habits of consumers. In fact, “90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual and visuals are processed 60,000 times faster in the brain than text.” – 3M Corporation Statistic
Not only does this emphasize the need for brands to incorporate visual graphics into their content strategy, but brands also need to take the influence of color on consumer purchase habits into consideration.
The following infographic from KISSmetrics illustrates the importance of color in marketing, branding, and consumer purchase behavior. As the infographic points out, “Colors that entice in North America are different from those that entice in India.” This remains true within each target market as well. For example, colors that attract a college student audience will vary from colors that attract a retirement demographic.
