Weekly Wrap Up: Facebook Launches New ‘Ask’ Button
Serendipit Consulting wraps up the week with a look at Facebook’s new ‘Ask’ button, which allows users to ask a question regarding a friend’s relationship status.
We all know Facebook is a place where people ‘creep’, but now it’s rolling out a new update to make creeping a lot creepier. With its addition of the new “Ask” button, users can now send out direct messages regarding a friend’s relationship status. In other words asking—want to go out? By clicking on this “Ask” button a dialogue box comes up with the text, “Let (your friend) know why you are asking for (his/her) relationship status.” It also offers a box where you can add more details to your request. This update is a more in depth version of the ever so loved ‘poke’ option that Facebook has.
This new feature is an attempt to try and make a fun and more interactive way to message other users. Facebook says that this new feature will help remind users who have forgotten to update their relationship status’ to make the change, but many people found it to be a little too creepy and invasive.
