As marketers, we are continuously conjuring up the next best idea that has never been seen before, but at times it is important to take a step back and remember the fundamentals that have made the marketing industry what it is today. One being a strong call to action.
While creativity is always a necessary ingredient to any campaign, if the customer doesn’t know how to request your business’ services the point of the campaign will never come to full effect. Customers want to know exactly what to do and how to do it.
While the fundamentals behind a strong call to action have stayed consistent, the messaging behind a strong call to action have flourished and innovated with the times. The messaging can get as creative as, “Let’s take our relationship to the next level.” This allows us as marketers to still have our fun with words, while still getting the job done. For example, KissMetrics placed a call to action within a video and it received 65% more clicks than a standard call to action.
Moral of the story is to always include a call to action, but have fun with it and don’t be afraid to try something new.
