STRATEGY 

Our team wanted to create a fun way to amuse and engage social media followers of the AZPetVet brand during the COVID-19 quarantine. While the Governor’s Stay at Home order was in effect, more people were spending time on their phones and laptops while at home with their pets. We wanted to capitalize on this unprecedented opportunity to increase engagement and raise the AZPetVet brand awareness. 

The goal of the Quarantine Tails contest was to encourage AZPetVet community members to engage and interact with our brand account, individual location pages, and with each other. As an engagement-focused contest, we designed it to be simple, easy, and something that anyone could win. A random winner from the participants would be selected, and their entry would be highlighted in the Quarantine Tails Grand Prize winner announcement.

EXECUTION

It was important for this contest to be simple, easy, and fun. The more steps required to enter, the less likely it becomes for people to take the time to participate. The Quarantine Tails contest entry requirements were simple. Upload a photo reply in the AZPetVet Facebook and Instagram post comments along with a short caption, and they were automatically entered! We also encouraged participants to “Like” our business page on Facebook to be considered for the grand prize, as continuing to build the AZPetVet audience is essential.

With so many people working from home or simply staying home –– our audience was enthusiastic and excited to participate. The response rate was so impressive, that AZPetVet introduced 3 additional prizes to the mix halfway through the contest, prompting a new wave of entries to roll in!

Results

A highly engaged audience seized the day, replying with all sorts of funny user-generated content and photos shared to the AZPetVet page. 

On announcing the Quarantine Tails winners, one of the Grand Prize winners chose to ‘Pay It Forward’ by donating her prize to another random winner – extending the post engagement well past the contest deadlines! In all, the contest was well-timed, well-received, and produced some awesome results.
