Voices For Casa Children
Voices for CASA Children is an Arizona-based 501(c)(3) and Qualified Foster Care Charitable Organization. The group believes in giving every lost and voiceless child a brighter future by recruiting and supporting Court Appointed Special Advocates. These Court Appointed Special Advocates serve as the eyes and the ears of the judge related to child welfare system, but work independently from all other people in the child welfare system. Their role is to speak with everyone involved in the child’s case, including foster parents, biological parents, teachers, and many others to obtain a full-circle view of what is best for the child. Using all of the information they’ve gathered, the volunteer then prepares and submits a court report directly to the judge to advocate for what is in the best interest of that child.
Voices for CASA Children recruits and supports volunteers, They have three different conduits that assist with each child’s experience - child enrichment, child welfare advocacy, and program support. All three exist to ensure that the CASA and the child in their charge have everything they need to reach their potential and make for a more swift, more stable journey through the court process.
Our goal was to develop a PR strategy that would bring Voices for CASA Children further into the public eye, bolstering their public perception and by extension, generating more volunteer interest. We needed to position Voices for CASA Children as a leading supporter of children’s’ advocacy rights in Arizona, and CASA’s at a state level. We aimed to better explain their structure/mission – “supporting those who support others,” through continuous media coverage in Arizona (specifically, Maricopa-county based) press outlets across broadcast, print and digital mediums.
Over a one year period, Serendipit secured 55 media wins for Voices for CASA Children in local print, online and broadcast outlets. The nonprofit received coverage in publications ranging from legacy papers like the Arizona Republic to hyperlocal outlets like the Foothills Focus, Paradise Valley Independent and Peoria Times. In terms of TV coverage, Voices attained multiple placements across all of the ‘big five’ local stations: Fox10, 12News, CBS5, 3TV and ABC15. Topics ranged from Voices’ hosted informational sessions on becoming a CASA, to personal profiles of volunteers across the Valley.
Key executives from Voices for CASA Children have noticed a direct increase in community participation from public relations efforts towards their informational sessions, as well as increased engagement with the local community as a whole.
