If you’ve never been a fan of QR codes, today might be the day we convert you.

Snapchat has launched a new feature that allows users to create QR Snapcodes that have the ability to direct to any website. By scanning the Snapcode with the app’s camera, users will be directed to the designated website. To create a Snapcode, all you need is the website URL, an image from the website or your phone, and you’re good to go. Instagram Stories allows only verified users to share URLs. Although Snapchat is following Instagram’s lead on shareable URLs, they are becoming the people’s champion by offering this feature to everyone.

With this new feature, Snapchat is opening the door to businesses to share content outside of the app. Before, businesses would have to type the URL in their stories manually. As a result, users would have to search for the website on their own. Who has the time to exit Snapchat and type in the URL into their browser, right? With the flexibility and ease of Snapcodes, users will be able to visit a website at the touch of the screen. Another advantage for businesses is the ability to create multiple Snapcodes, opening up the possibility to direct your audience to specific landing pages or websites depending on your goal.

Instagram may be pulling ahead of Snapchat, but this is a great opportunity if your brand has a strong presence on the platform.
