Serendipit wraps up the week with a look at Facebooks premature launch of its snapchat-like app, Slingshot.
Facebook accidentally launched their newest app, Slingshot, early Monday. Slingshot is a new app developed to be basically just like Snapchat. It will allow users to share everyday moments with many people at once. Users will begin snapping a photo or recording a video to share with friends that they can only view once. Similar to Snapchat, you can add text or draw on the image or video before sending it off. The only difference is that the recipient of the message needs to send their own message first before opening yours.
The app was accidentally launched in select countries around the world, this Monday, including Russia, Australia, and New Zealand. Facebook is unsure as to why the premature launch happened, but speculators say it could have been from developers accidentally setting the wrong date or time zone for the app’s launch. There is not yet a re-launch date set for the Slingshot app at this time.
