Weekly Wrap Up: Holiday Hashtags
Serendipit takes a look at integrating holiday hashtags this season.
We all still love Justin Timberlake’s #hashtag skit, even if it was a bit #overthetop. Today we are reviewing the best tactics for hashtags during the upcoming shopping season.
Use seasonal hashtags to help find future customers on social media channels like Twitter. For example, if your company has a tie into the Christmas season, research hastaghs like #Christmas, #FalalalaFriday and #ChristmasCountdown to tap into potential customers.
Don’t Overdo It
As much as we love Justin’s hashtag skit, make sure you don’t overdo it this season. Stay with your traditional 2-3 hashtags you normally use and add in 1-2 creative and seasonal hashtags. Using too many hashtags can make you look spammy and takes away from your messaging.
In order to find the perfect seasonal hashtag for your company, have a group brainstorm session. It’s okay to a little goofy or silly, as a clever hashtag can take off like wildfire.
Integrate Your Holiday Hashtag
Use your holiday hashtag to run a cross-promotion social media contest as well as use across your marketing collateral. Before you know it, your core customers will begin using it each time they post on their own.
